Monica DIETL

Monica Dietl is a neurobiologist. Research Director at the French CNRS (Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique), she conducted research at the University Pierre and Marie Curie in Paris (UPMC), at the University of Vienna, at Sandoz Ltd. in Basel and the Collège de France in collaboration with Rhône Poulenc Santé S.A. in Paris, before embarking on the world of research management and science policy.

Most recently she worked as an expert for Science Business Publishing Ltd., focusing on outcomes-based health reforms in the EU. Before that, she was five years Director of COST (European Cooperation for Science and Technology), after having twice been Director of the CNRS Brussels Office, representative and coordinator of the CNRS EU Community Affairs, and in between four years Seconded National Expert to the Directorate General of Research and Innovation of the European Commission involved in the early development of the ERC (European Research Council). She has been Head of the CRIC (Cellule des Relations Industrielles et Communautaires) of the CNRS Scientific Department in Life Sciences after having been five years Officer in charge of European Affaires in the largest regional delegation (242 laboratories in all research fields) in the heard of Paris. Since mid-April 2019 Monica Dietl is Coordinator of the Action Plan Europe and Advisor to the Director General of the General Directorate of Research and Innovation of the French Ministry for Higher Education, Research and Innovation (MESRI) back in Paris.
