Marta Pulido-Salgado, PhD, is a Postdoctoral researcher in Digital Health at the Open University of Catalonia, in Barcelona. Her work aims to develop Medical APPs to educate and empower professionals, as well as citizens. Her previous research was focused on elucidating the molecular mechanisms underlying neurodegenerative disorders, like Parkinson’s Disease or Multiple Sclerosis.
In addition, Marta collaborates as Scientific Writer with the Spanish Edition of Scientific American on a weekly basis.
From March 2018 to February 2019, she was involved in the design and launching of SciTech DiploHub, a civil initiative committed to making Barcelona the first world’s city to implement a Science and Technology Diplomacy Strategy. Besides, Marta lead SciTech DiploHub Communication Strategy.
Compromised to participate in actions outside the bench to increase science impact in society, she took part in the H2020 PERFORM PROJECT, that brings together performers, researchers and secondary school students to explore Responsible Research and Innovation values though performance-based activities. In addition, she actively participates in public seminars and workshops aimed to bring science closer to a non-expert audience, on a regular basis.
Marta received her PhD in Biomedicine from the University of Barcelona. She holds a Bachelor’s in Chemistry, as well as a Masters’ in Biomedicine also from the University of Barcelona and a Masters’ in Science, Medical and Environmental Communication from the Barcelona School of Management – Pompeu Fabra University.
