Fernando Simón Soria is a Medical Doctor and Epidemiologist trained in Spain, England and France, Fernando Simón is holding the post of Director of the Spanish Coordinating Centre for Health Alerts and Emergencies at the Ministry of Health, Social Services and Equality since 2012. He was researcher at the Spanish Instituto de Salud Carlos III between 2003 and 2011 and previously occupied posts of responsibility in public health and epidemiology sectors in several countries and international organisations in Africa, Latin America and Europe. He has extensive experience in public health surveillance, epidemiology, research, planning preparedness and control of infectious diseases and teaching in different settings at national and international level.
Fernando Simón is member of several committees and working groups of the European Union, the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) and the World Health Organization.
